Laser Blaster 54 Posts | It's definitely a better system than Gameboy and Gameboy Color. It took me a while to find one for a price I was willing to pay but I finally did. I got the Lynx II, Blue Lightning, Rygar, APB, and Roadblasters. I also got the bigger of the two carry cases that were available and the D-Cell battery pack for like $40 plus shipping. The really nice thing about the Lynx, though, is there is such a glut of games for it on ebay that you can pick up most of them pretty cheap, even new in box. There's only a handful of rares that will set you back serious cash. |

Predator Hunter 735 Posts | I was amazed! I remember first reading about it in Atarian magazine. No other company had COLOR! Then when I played Blue Lightning for the first time, I had to have one!
Turns out my aunt & grandmother got it for me after I suggested it would make a nice High School graduation gift. |

Evil Scientist 22 Posts | To me this was the handheld system to have and, in fact, I never owned any other handheld system until the Sony PSP came out. That's how impressed I was (and still am) with the Lynx. It really was ahead of its time and it has an excellent game library as well. I knew this was the handheld to have back in the day. GameBoy? Nah. Who wants a measly monochrome screen when you can have a nice color screen? |

Predator Hunter 735 Posts | You know, I still can't find a good way to play Lynx games unless it's on the real thing. Sure there are emulators for the PC and tablets, but there's always something wrong.
Tablets don't have controls so you end up playing with a touch screen (!). And in no way, shape, or form does it feel right to be playing portable Lynx games on a non-portable desktop computer. Now, if there were a Lynx emulator for the Nintendo DS, it might be okay. (Is there one for the PSP or Vita?)
Methinks Curt Vendel ought to petition "Atari" to create a Lynx Flashback with 30 games built in. |

Evil Scientist 22 Posts | I don't know if there is an emulator for the PSP. Now, that would be awesome! Running Lynx games on a PSP? I can dig that! |

Predator Hunter 735 Posts | Yes, there is an emulator for PSP (it's a port of Handy.) But it appears to run at about 75% speed. The video I saw for Cali Games made the music sound dreadful... |

Evil Scientist 22 Posts | So, not very good. Handy itself isn't a very good emulator for the Lynx. It has issues with sound. |

Extra-Terrestrial 34 Posts | I was young in the days of the Lynx...I'm currently 30. What I do remember is that it was the cream of the crop as far as handhelds went and unfortunately I've never had the pleasure to own an actual unit. My first impression was I was very much impressed but it was always out of my reach. |   | -------------------- When u hit the walls of sanity.....u have no-where to go. |
